NSO Helpline: a super convenient way to get your birth certificates

In any civilized society, documentation and paperwork is extremely important. You have to prove who you are and that you legally exist via approved channels – something that hasn’t always been easy in this country, even in Manila.

Thankfully, the NSO Helpline has been taking documentation in the Philippines out of the dark ages and into the digital world.

Now everyone can get their NSO certificates, easy peasy.

Now everyone can get their NSO certificates, easy peasy.

Even when most countries had a national system where employers, law enforcement, and your ex could find your records in some kind of database, those of us in the Philippines knew the joys of having to visit several different offices, line up for hours, and still not get your birth certificate / marriage certificate / what have you for weeks at a time. And that’s just for people in the CBD. If you lived in the province and worked in the city or vice versa, you had the additional pleasure of having to deal with the red tape, lost records, misspelled names, and all that extra hoopla that makes you want to junk the whole thing and live as a hermit.

Gandalf the Gray had it easy.

In 2000, the National Statistics Office (NSO) finally gave in to the plea of millions of unhappy Pinoys and partnered with Pilipinas Teleserv Inc. The latter serves as the former’s citizen service partner, and is the company that is responsible for developing the NSO Birth Certificate Delivery service.

If time were (actual) money, you would owe these guys a whole lot.

They have since partnered with other government agencies that dealt in providing citizen documentation, making the process almost painless. Even the legendarily epic long lines at the passport distribution center were made more efficient. I know this from experience, and thanks to them, I now have an up-to-date passport that didn’t require fixers or the sale of my soul.

This month, Pilipinas Teleserv Inc. and NSO give us one less excuse to delay fixing our legal documentation. They have given the old NSO website an overhaul designed to enhance the current NSO Birth Certificate Delivery Service.

New look, new features, squeee!

New look, new features, squeee!

The new website is called NSOHelpline.com, and as per usual, the service guarantees door-to-door delivery of NSO certificates within 2-3 days, but with better customer support, easier navigation, and a fully updated, more comprehensive FAQ.

NSO : not just for birth certificates, you know.

Another excellent added service: you can now find out where on earth your document went without the help of Xanax.

As an added bonus, the service also stays you find answers and solutions for numerous NSO certificate related concerns, inquiries, and problems. It offers solutions with up-to-date information of NSO facts and consultation services for certificate problems like name or date corrections and late registration. It also incorporates comprehensive coverage of the primary phone and chat channels and upcoming developments for SMS, social media, and mobile applications for improved convenience.

Don't delay! Or delay, whatevz. It only takes three days, tops, after all.
