Get a brew and a bite Bone and Barrel

we wound up at Bone and Barrel in Eastwood city a couple of months ago at the invitation of a friend and on the promise of flavored beers. While not a beer drinker myself, I was curious about how they flavored beer in the first place.

Still not a beer drinker - but these brews are fun for those who have acquired the taste.

What I would definitely come back for, and even bought home, is the food. Bar chow has never been quite so hearty!

Bone and Barrel Bistro is part of a growing niche among restaurants – where the food and the adult beverages are equal stars sharing the stage in a comfy, cozy environment. This makes it a great place to hit before bar-hopping to carb-load, or after a bout on the dance floor. But you can also choose to linger over dinner and drinks, as the menu and the bar offer a wide variety of selections.

Bone and Barrel Bistro specializes in comfort food with a twist, and you’ll see old favorites sporting new flavors or prepared in interesting ways. The Balut ala Pobre, the duck egg delicacy served on a sizzling plate drenched in garlic and buttery gravy, is definitely a surprise, as is the rich, spicy Kansi soup.

Kansi - a derivative of bulalo, enticingly rich and spicy, with nice sour undertones cutting through the velvety smooth broth.

But the winner of the night was the Mignion Skewers, strips of steak and bits of cheese wrapped in bacon. Meat and meat and cheese! What’s not to love?

Everything's better with bacon - even fillet mignon!

Of course, we all had to try the drinks. Everyone tasted the flavored beers along with various selections from the bar – including the fun flaming shots!

Kax, obliging to be my model for the night.

Are you brave enough to try the flaming absinthe tower?

So the next time you’re in the Eastwood area and get a carnivore craving, make your way to Bone & Barrel, located along the Eastwood Walk. You’ll be very pleasantly surprised. 🙂

Plan on spending around 500 per person inclusive of non-alcoholic drinks, and enjoying the rest of the night sampling the house drinks. Try the 10 flavors of beers made right on the premises : Salted Caramel, Raspberry, Pomegranate, Kiwi, Green Apple, Strawberry, Wild Berry, Watermelon, Cucumber, Salted Caramel, and Elder Flower.

Spread the word!
